There are four ways you can purchase a used ROM machine.

  1. Purchase a refurbished machine directly from us, the manufacturer. These units are used units that we have received back at the factory and completely refurbish and sell with a 5 year warranty, which is the same as our new units.

We do not sell used ROM Machines, however on occasion we have a factory refurbished ROM. The difference between our Factory Refurbished ROM and a used ROM is that we remove all the mechanical parts and replace all sprockets, bearings, transmission, front & rear grips, computer, all cables, computer, and chain tensioner bungees. And they are updated to all the current version specifications as well. So what leaves our factory is a mechanically brand new ROM. We take pride in our product and we have very high standards as you may have seen in our DVD of the factory tour; when a product leaves our door it must live up to those standards. It leaves our factory in the same crate as a new ROM and is not just strapped to a pallet and wrapped (which is how many used machines are shipped, and thus often get damaged in transit). We will not sell a machine that is sight unseen by us where we cannot control its quality or condition. This Factory Refurbished ROM also has the same 5 year warranty as our new ROM's. They sell for $9500, and they are not always available. Contact us at (818) 787-6460 or email sales@fastexercise.com to inquire about availability.

  2. Purchase a unit that you can see and try in person prior to purchasing and move yourself.

If you are considering purchasing a used ROM machine online only get serious about one that is close by where you can see it and try it and drive away with it. There have been too many that are not in the condition described, not to mention damaged in transit. There is no warranty that comes on used machines but depending on the age parts are usually available.

  3. Purchase from an online reseller of used fitness equipment. We DO NOT recommend this route.

Stay away from online resellers of the machine. Some claim to sell refurbished machines with warranties, however we do not support these sales: we no longer provide parts or service for machines purchased from someone other than ROMfab. They resell a machine, often sight unseen, just acting as a broker, with no care of how to ship it, install it, or how to deal with service issues. And they often end up damaging the machine, and then ask us to help with repair problems that were completely preventable. Here is a list of recent shipping problems we have had with used machines that were improperly shipped:

    1. The moving company cut off the side arm bolts using a hack saw instead of trying to unscrew the bolts. They thought it would be an easy replacement job. It wasn't. The machine arrived at the new customer with side arms that couldn't be easily reassembled. Photos.

    2. Damage to drive bar and seat due to improper packaging:

    3. The drive bar of the machine was damaged during shipping. It cost over $1000 to replace it including labor. In order to inflict that kind of damage on the machine, it had to be hit by incredible force, quite possibly doing structural damage to the machine that will reveal itself in the future. The company re-selling the machine just wanted to repair the damaged drive bar, and not assume any responsibility for possible structural damage.

    4. Machine was shipped strapped to a pallet and arrived on its side. The machine arrived in completely unusable fashion due to the chains falling off, not to mention possible structural issues and damage to individual parts.

This is just another reason why we as the manufacturer do not want to support untrained and potentially unqualified companies to re-sell ROMs and put us at risk. This is why we are now forced to no longer supply parts, factory service, or customer service on ROMs sold by such parties. We have been forced to these extreme measures by the number of problems caused by unqualified re-sellers trying to make money by selling ROMs they know little to nothing about. These untrained re-sellers have not offered customer support, training, or service after the sale and we as the manufacturer bear the burden of not providing the new owner the quality of transaction and product they expected when they bought a ROM.

9 out of 10 times when we are contacted for service on used machines, it is because of damage incurred during shipping. So you can understand our frustration to continue dealing with issues where the reselling company, in an effort to save money, employs cheap packaging which results in severe damage.

Additionally, we have found that used machines change hands very often, because the buyer is not in contact with us, and doesn't have the proper customer support to learn how to properly use the machine. And the machine falls into disuse and then gets resold. If you have purchased a machine through one of these sources, and need help in getting to know how to use the machine, please do call us though. We would like you to have the best experience possible in using the machine, and getting the results you want.

  4. Purchase online from someone selling their machine, sight unseen. We DO NOT recommend this route either.

Purchasing a machine from a previous owner directly online sight unseen can be risky because you can't be sure of the condition of the machine. The machine may be rusty, the machine may have been improperly stored causing damage to the machine, etc. However, if you are careful, it's possible to purchase a machine in condition. Make sure to employ proper crating for the machine, so that it does not get damaged during shipping.

Considering selling your used ROM machine?

If you are considering selling your used ROM machine, please contact us first. We would like to help you get back on the proverbial horse and start using the machine again.

If you need to sell the machine for reasons beyond your control (financial, etc.) and you didn't want to do it yourself, we occasionally buy back machines, which we refurbish and then resell as used with a full factory warranty.

Factory Refurbished ROM Machines
